Muitos de nós viajamos durante o Natal. Entramos em aviões e em carros na esperança de ter um tempo maravilhoso com a família ou amigos. Esperamos ter um bom momento. Esperamos fortes conversas com membros da família e este ano faremos o nosso melhor para evitar discussões políticas. Se pensarmos nisto, não somos assim tão diferentes dos Magos.
Eles obviamente não se importavam com o que o Rei Herodes pensou sobre o bebé nascido, chamado Jesus. Apenas sabiam nos seus corações que era correcto ir e honrá-Lo. Quando chegaram, Jesus já tinha sido apresentado no templo como um menino. Eles chegaram depois de uma longa jornada para ver Deus envolvido na pele de uma criança.
As suas esperanças e sonhos para o mundo dependiam de uma criança frágil e jovem que vacilava. No entanto, trouxeram as suas prendas na esperança de que esta criança mudaria radicalmente o seu mundo.
E se pensássemos nestes mesmos termos?
Neste Natal, vamos trazer os nossos presentes para as pessoas mais preciosas das nossas vidas. Façamos destes presentes a nossa bondade e amor, que é mais difícil do que comprar presentes. Vamos mostrar aos outros que fizemos uma viagem para partilhar o amor de Deus com a esperança de paz na terra, ou pelo menos a paz no Natal.

Many of us travel during Christmas time. We get on planes and hop in cars in the hopes of a wonderful time with family or friends. We expect to have a great time. We expect tough conversations with family members and this year we will do our best to avoid political discussions. If you think about it, we are not that different from the Magi.
They obviously did not care what King Herod thought about the baby born, named Jesus. They just knew in their hearts it was right to go and honor Him. By the time they arrived, Jesus was being presented in the temple as a baby boy. They arrived after a long journey to see God wrapped in a toddler’s skin.
Their hopes and dreams for the world relied on a frail, young child teetering about. Yet, they brought their gifts in the hope that this child would radically change their world.
What if we thought in these same terms?
This Christmas, let’s bring our gifts to the most precious people in our lives. Let us make those gifts our kindness and love, which is more difficult than purchasing gifts. Let’s show others that we made a journey to share God’s love with the hope of peace on earth, or at least peace on Christmas.
