Para A Pessoa Com Tudo # For The Person With Everything

Estamos todos a procurar alguma coisa. Às vezes, é propósito, sucesso e riqueza, enquanto outras vezes é amor, segurança e aceitação. Às vezes, olhamos para as nossas carreiras e realizações para encontrar satisfação, e outras vezes procuramos uma pessoa para nos dar valor. Não importa o que estamos a perseguir, a origem desta busca sem fim resume-se a sentir que algo está a faltar, mas o quê?

A Rainha de Sabá lutou com estas mesmas perguntas. Apesar de toda a sua riqueza, fama e poder, ela não conseguia responder às perguntas difíceis da vida. Alguma coisa estava a faltar e talvez o Rei Salomão tivesse as respostas.

O Rei Salomão era filho do Rei David. Com sapatos tão grandes para encher como Rei, Salomão pediu a Deus sabedoria. Satisfeito que Salomão pediu sabedoria em vez de fama, riqueza e poder, Deus abençoou-o com todos os quatro, o mais impressionante deles foi a sua incrível sabedoria. Quando a notícia se espalhou sobre o sucesso do Rei Salomão, ele fez questão de dar a Deus o crédito.

Eventualmente os rumores da sabedoria e riqueza de Salomão chegaram à Rainha. Se havia alguém que pudesse responder às suas perguntas, Salomão seria essa pessoa; então ela começou a longa viagem de Sabá (Iémene) para Israel. Ao falar com Salomão, Deus abriu-lhe os olhos. Ela percebeu que toda a riqueza, status e sabedoria de Salomão vinham do Deus Único e Verdadeiro. Tudo o que ela procurava voltava à sua necessidade de conhecer Deus.

Estás a procurar alguma coisa mais na vida? Talvez tenhas o sucesso, o dinheiro e o relacionamento que pensaste ser a "coisa". Então, porque é que desejas sempre mais? Talvez seja o momento de colocar a Deus algumas das tuas perguntas difíceis da vida e ver o que Ele tem a dizer. Quando já tiveste tudo, o que tens a perder?

We’re all looking for something. Sometimes it’s purpose, success, and wealth, while other times it’s love, security, and acceptance. Sometimes we look to our careers and achievements to find fulfillment, and other times we look to a person to give us value. No matter what it is we’re pursuing, the source of this endless searching ultimately comes down to feeling that something is missing, but what is it?

The Queen of Sheba struggled with these same questions. In spite of all her wealth, fame, and power, she couldn’t answer life’s difficult questions. Something was missing and perhaps King Solomon held the answers.

King Solomon was King David’s son. With such big shoes to fill as King, Solomon asked God for wisdom. Pleased that Solomon would ask for wisdom over fame, wealth, and power, God blessed him with all four, the most impressive of which was his incredible wisdom. As word spread of King Solomon’s success, he made sure to give God the credit.

Eventually rumors of Solomon’s wisdom and wealth reached the Queen. If anyone could answer her questions, Solomon certainly could; so she began the long journey from Sheba (Yemen) to Israel. In speaking with Solomon, God opened up her eyes. She realized that all Solomon’s wealth, status and wisdom actually came from the One True God. Everything she was searching for came back to knowing God.

Are you searching for something more in life? Maybe you have the success, the money, and the relationship you thought would be "it". So why do you continually crave more? Maybe it’s time to ask God some of your difficult life questions and see what He has to say. When you have had everything else, what do you have to lose?

A Vida De Lídia # The Life Of Lydia

Já ouviste falar de Lídia? Não é o nome mais conhecido da Bíblia, mas Lídia foi uma tremenda mulher de fé e influência. Numa época em que as mulheres de carreira eram raras, Lídia era uma mulher de negócios respeitada e bem-sucedida. Não só isso, mas Lídia foi a primeira crente Europeia e anfitriã da primeira igreja Europeia.

Lídia dá um poderoso exemplo que todos podemos aprender hoje, ela aproveitava os seus recursos e influência para a glória de Deus. Um transplante para a região do trabalho, Lídia era o equivalente a um representante da manufactura que se especializou em tecido de cor púrpura. O tecido de cor púrpura era popular entre a elite, a classe aristocrática. Isto significava que Lídia estava familiarizada com a alta sociedade e claramente tinha muito sucesso. Paulo conheceu Lídia enquanto ela orava com um grupo de mulheres. Embora não fosse judia, Lídia procurava Deus.

Have you heard of Lydia? She’s not the most well-known name in the Bible, yet Lydia was a tremendous woman of faith and influence. At a time when career women were rare, Lydia was a respected and successful business woman. Not only that, but Lydia was the first European believer and host of the first European church.

Lydia sets a powerful example that we can all learn from today of leveraging her resources and influence for God’s glory. A transplant to the region for work, Lydia was the equivalent of a manufacture’s rep who specialized in purple fabric. Purple fabric was popular with the elite, the aristocratic class. This meant that Lydia was familiar with high society and was clearly very successful. Paul first met Lydia while she was praying with a group of women. Although not Jewish, Lydia was searching for God.

That’s when Paul began sharing the good news of the Gospel, that Jesus paid the penalty for our sins, dying on the cross and rising again in three days. As Lydia listened, God opened up her heart, convicting her of the truth and in that moment, she gave her life to God in faith. But her transformation didn’t end there; her entire household followed her example and became believers, forming the region’s first church in her home.

So what can we learn from Lydia, this successful and influential career woman? Lydia leveraged her influence and success for God. She used her gifts and talents for God’s glory, impacting the lives of those around her. So what about you? How do you use your resources and influence? What is your motivation for your work? Ask God to show you how you can use your resources and influence for His kingdom.

Beleza Redefinida # Beauty Redefined

O que é a beleza? Bem, depende a quem perguntas. Culturas e indivíduos têm definições muito diferentes, mas uma coisa permanece na mesma: a beleza é altamente valorizada. Basta olhar para qualquer revista, publicidade ou a mais recente estrela de Hollywood, a beleza é sempre uma indústria multi-bilionária.

Não há nada de mal em querer ser bonito. Afinal, a beleza é um dom de Deus. E nenhuma criação é mais bonita que uma mulher bonita. No entanto, há um perigo em esforçar-se excessivamente por ser bela a ponto de negligenciar o relacionamento com Deus. A Bíblia diz que a beleza deveria ser mais do que apenas um foco externo.

Porquê? Porque a beleza externa desaparece. É temporária. Assim como a capacidade atlética de um grande atleta se desvanece, o mesmo acontece com a beleza de uma mulher. A Bíblia não está a dizer que uma mulher não deveria se importar com a sua aparência ou fazer algo para realçar a sua beleza. A Bíblia está a dizer para verificarmos as prioridades, concentrando-nos no que permanece. Caso contrário, existe a tentação de tornar-nos egocêntricos e narcisistas, excessivamente materialistas ou até mesmo sedutores na abordagem da beleza, o que pode levar a percepções pouco saudáveis ​​de nós mesmo e dos outros.

Em vez disso, Deus diz para concentrar-nos no coração, na beleza interior que vem como um subproduto da verdadeira devoção a Jesus Cristo. E à medida que a devoção a Cristo cresce, como uma pessoa caminha com Cristo através dos altos e baixos da vida, esta beleza interior crescerá, não importa como a sociedade se fixa apenas na beleza exterior. What is beauty? Well, it depends on who you ask. Cultures and individuals have very different definitions, but one thing remains the same: beauty is highly valued. Just glance at any magazine, advertisement or the latest Hollywood hit, beauty is always a multi-billion dollar industry.

There’s nothing wrong with wanting to be beautiful. After all, beauty is a gift from God. And no creation is more beautiful than a beautiful woman. However, there is a danger in excessively striving for beauty to the point of neglecting one’s relationship with God. The Bible says that beauty should be more than just an external focus.

Why? Because external beauty fades. It’s temporary. Just as a great athlete’s athletic ability will fade, so it is with beauty in a woman. The Bible is not saying that a woman shouldn’t care about her appearance or do anything to enhance her beauty. The Bible is saying to check your priorities by focusing on what lasts. Otherwise, there’s the temptation to become self-absorbed and narcissistic, excessively materialistic, or even seductive in one’s approach to beauty, all of which can lead to very unhealthy perceptions of self and others.

Instead, God says to focus on the heart, on one’s inner beauty that comes as a byproduct of true devotion to Jesus Christ. And as that devotion to Christ grows, as a person walks with Christ through the ups and downs of life, that inner beauty will grow, no matter how society fixates on external beauty alone. That’s why we see older women who literally grow more beautiful with age. Their spirit, their countenance, their virtue, is a wonder to behold.

So ladies, what will you choose? Will you focus more on a beauty that fades and changes with culture, or a beauty that lasts forever and grows greater over time?

Há uma história de um capitão de um navio de guerra que, no meio da noite, viu a luz de outro navio vindo directamente a ele. O capitão avisou por rádio o navio que se aproximava e disse: "Vire para Sul imediatamente!"

Esperamos que os outros saiam do nosso caminho e ignoramos a orientação de Deus para vivermos a nossa vida. Então, de repente, encontramo-nos naufragados e sentindo-nos como uns tolos.

Jesus Cristo é o Farol a tentar alertar-nos do perigo e a levar-nos para segurança. Encorajo-te a confiar em Cristo e a estar disposto a seguir a Sua liderança na tua vida. Ele vai manter-te longe de muitos problemas.

There is a story of the captain of a battleship who, in the middle of the night, saw the light of another ship coming directly at him. The captain radioed the oncoming ship and said, "Turn south immediately!"

The response was, "You turn south immediately."

The captain was furious. He radioed back, "This is a battleship. I command you to turn south immediately!"

The response was, "This is the lighthouse. You turn south immediately."

I imagine that captain felt pretty ridiculous. But are we any better? Often we have an attitude just like that captain’s. We are arrogant towards God and mankind. We expect others to get out of our way, and we ignore God’s guidance for living our life. Then, suddenly, we find ourselves shipwrecked and feeling like fools.

Jesus Christ is the Lighthouse trying to warn us of danger, and lead us to safety. I encourage you to trust Christ and be willing to follow His leadership in your life. He will keep you out of a lot of trouble.

Não Tires Os Teus Olhos De Jesus # Don't Take Your Eyes Off Of Jesus

Caminhando através da neve recentemente caída, um pai queria ensinar o seu filho uma lição chave na vida. Ele disse: "Filho, vou caminhar até aquela árvore a cerca de 15 metros à frente numa linha perfeitamente recta. Depois quero que faças o mesmo."

O pai caminhou até à árvore. Ele virou-se para olhar para o filho e ambos observaram o trilho perfeitamente recto na neve. Não querendo falhar no teste, o filho olhou para o pai e começou a caminhar. Ele olhou para as pegadas e desviou-se para a esquerda. Ele olhou para cima e corrigiu o seu curso. Olhou para baixo novamente. Desviou-se para a direita e teve que corrigir o curso mais uma vez. Chegando à árvore, as suas pegadas contaram a história do seu fracasso.

O seu pai explicou: "Filho, enquanto te concentravas em mim, as tuas pegadas eram direitas. No momento em que tiraste os olhos de mim, saíste do caminho. A chave é manter os teus olhos no objectivo."

Também é assim na vida. Existe um objectivo primário e, se ele tornar-se o coração e o foco da tua vida, será a chave para o sucesso eterno. Este objectivo é seguir o Senhor. Se quisermos uma caminhada forte com Cristo Jesus, devemos olhar para Ele como o autor e consumador da nossa fé. Temos que olhar para Ele e não tirar os nossos olhos d'Ele. Quando somos atraídos pelo peso e pelo pecado do mundo que se agarra tão de perto, tiramos os olhos d'Ele. Mas quando mantemos os nossos olhos Nele, Ele nos manterá no caminho certo para onde devemos ir.

Walking through freshly fallen snow, a father wanted to teach his son a key lesson in life. He said, "Son, I’m going to walk to that tree about 50 feet ahead in a perfectly straight line. Then I want you to do the same."

The father walked to the tree. He turned to look at his son, and they both observed the perfectly straight tracks in the snow. Not wanting to fail the test, the son looked at his father and began to walk. He looked down at his steps and veered to the left. He looked up and corrected his course. He looked down again. He veered to the right and had to correct his course once more. Arriving at the tree, his tracks told the story of his failure.

His father explained, "Son, as long as you focused on me, your tracks were straight. The moment you took your eyes off me, you got off track. The key is keeping your eyes on the goal."

So it is in life. There is one primary goal and if it becomes the heart and focus of your life it will be the key to eternal success. That goal is following the Lord. If we are to have a strong walk with Christ Jesus, we have to look to Him as the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. We have to look to Him and not take our eyes off Him. When we are lured in by the weight and sin of the world which clings so closely, we take our eyes off of Him. But when we keep your eyes on Him, He will keep us right on track to where we need to go.

Já Lá Estamos? # Are We There Yet?

A Bíblia dá muitos exemplos de sinais que devem avisar-nos sobre o fim dos tempos. Seis desses sinais são dados por Jesus, duas características são dadas por Paulo e onze outras ocorrências são dadas pelos profetas para ocorrerem antes ou logo após os fins dos tempos. Enquanto é-nos dito que não saberemos o tempo do fim, Deus, obviamente, queria que soubéssemos quando este tempo estivesse próximo. Como é que podemos mudar? A Palavra de Deus diz: "As Escrituras são capazes de tornar-te sábio para a salvação através da fé em Jesus Cristo." Então, estuda a Palavra de Deus. Acredita no que diz sobre como ser salvo de um carácter impiedoso. Vive o que diz, pois todos estamos a ficar sem tempo.

The Bible gives many examples of signs that should warn us of the coming end of the age. Six such signs are given by Jesus, two characteristics are given by Paul, and eleven other occurrences are given by the prophets to occur prior to or soon after the end of the age. While we are also told we will not know the time of the end, God obviously wanted us to know when that time was getting closer. As the Christian church is increasingly drawn into the interfaith movement, and as more and more churches go into isolation, preparing to sleep through the growing attacks on their faith, perhaps God knew it would take a few signs to wake us up and remind us that we have work to do.

So, let’s imagine a time in history when, "People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unloving, slanderous, without self-control, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; holding to a form of godliness but denying its power."

Does this sound like today’s world or not? So, when were these words penned? Around 2,000 years ago in the Word of God. This prediction was prefaced with these haunting words: "But mark this: These will be terrible times in the last days."

Sounds like we’re there.

How can we change? God’s Word says, "The Scriptures are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Jesus Christ." So study God’s Word. Believe what it says about how to be saved from ungodly character. Live what it says, for we all are running out of time.

A Luz Da Sua Cruz # The Light Of His Cross

Para os residentes sortudos do Hemisfério Sul, ou aqueles suficientemente afortunados para desfrutar férias em Buenos Aires ou Fiji, há um deleite estrelar que poucos do Hemisfério Norte conhecem. É chamado de Cruzeiro do Sul, uma pequena mas bela constelação localizada no céu do Sul, muito perto da constelação vizinha de Centauros.

Infelizmente, enquanto o Cruzeiro do Sul é uma das características mais reconhecidas nos céus do Hemisfério Sul, devido ao aumento da quantidade de luz artificial em lugares como Sidney, na Austrália, o Cruzeiro do Sul está a começar a parecer mais fraco e menos distintivo no céu, como se estivesse a tornar-se invisível.

Parecido com a vida de muitos que afirmam ser Cristãos. A influência do mundo sobre os padrões éticos e morais é tão grande que a verdade encontrada na Bíblia está a tornar-se mais difícil de ver. Onde uma vez fomos luz na escuridão, agora alguma da nossa luz está a desaparecer na obscuridade, sem ser visto num mundo cheio de escuridão.

Mas não precisa de ser assim. Se te chamas Cristão, deixa-me fazer uma pergunta. A Luz de Cristo, a Luz da Sua Cruz, está a brilhar na tua vida? Ou é realmente inexistente, invisível para os outros? Não permitas que a tua luz desapareça sem ter uma influência positiva para Cristo.

For the lucky residents of the Southern Hemisphere, or those fortunate enough to enjoy a vacation in Buenos Aires or Fiji, there’s a stellar delight that few Northerners know about. It’s called the Southern Cross, a small but beautiful constellation located in the southern sky, very close to the neighboring constellation of Centaurus.

Unfortunately, while the Southern Cross is one of the most recognizable features in the skies of the Southern Hemisphere, because of the increase in the amount of artificial light in places like Sydney, Australia, the Southern Cross is beginning to appear fainter and less distinctive in the sky, as though it is becoming invisible.

How like the lives of many who claim to be Christians. The influence of the world on the ethical and moral standards is so great that the truth as found in the Bible is becoming harder to see. Where once we were light in the darkness, now some of our light has faded into obscurity, no longer seen in a world filled with darkness.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. If you call yourself a Christian, let me ask you a question. Is the Light of Christ, the Light of His Cross, shining through your life? Or is it really non-existent, invisible to others? Don’t allow your light to vanish without having a positive influence for Christ.

Aqueles Que Ouviram Não Têm Nenhuma Desculpa # Those Who Have Heard Have No Excuse

Jesus disse: "Eu Sou o caminho, a verdade e a vida, ninguém vem ao Pai senão através de Mim." Então, o que é que acontece com os que morrem sem ouvir a salvação encontrada em Cristo? É uma pergunta difícil de responder, mas com o que Jesus disse, não poderia ser mais claro. Por isso, a igreja recebeu um mandato; devemos levar o evangelho a todas as tribos e nações.

Mas e os que nunca tiveram a oportunidade de ouvir porque a igreja simplesmente ainda não completou a sua missão? A Bíblia diz que a pessoa que nunca conseguiu ouvir sobre Jesus ainda será responsável por responder diante de Deus com a revelação natural de Deus que receberam (Romanos 1:20). Agora como é que Deus faz isso? Não sei. No entanto, sabemos que Deus, que sacrificou o Seu Filho para a nossa salvação, quer que recebamos esta salvação. E Ele vai ser recto, justo e amoroso. Devemos confiar Nele para tomar a decisão certa para aqueles que nunca ouviram. Sabemos que Ele fará o que é melhor.

Mas quanto a ti, que já ouviste, escutaste? Porque aqueles que ouviram não têm nenhuma desculpa. Certifica-te que escolhes Jesus, porque Ele realmente é o único caminho para Deus.

Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through Me." So, what happens to those who die without actually hearing of the salvation found in Christ? It is a difficult question to answer, but with what Jesus said, it couldn’t be clearer. Because of that, the church is given a mandate; we’re to take the gospel to every tribe and nation.

But what about those who never have a chance to hear because the church simply has not completed its mission yet? The Bible says the person that has never been able to hear of Jesus is still going to be responsible for responding to God with the natural revelation of God that they have received (Romans 1:20). Now how God does this? I don’t know. Yet, we know that God, who has sacrificed His Son for our salvation, wants us to receive that salvation. And He is going to be fair, just and loving. We must trust Him to make the right decision for those who have never heard. We know He will do the right thing.

But as for you, you have heard, did you listen? Because those who have heard are without excuse. Be sure you choose Jesus, because He truly is the only way to God.
