Já Notaste Como O Diabo É Feio? # Ever Notice How Ugly The Devil Is?

Eu sei que a resposta que a maioria de nós terá para a seguinte questão é um retumbante, "Não!" Mas continua a ler de qualquer maneira. Aqui vai: "Queres viver como o diabo?" Para alguns de nós, isto é fácil de fazer. Na verdade, a maioria de nós fá-lo de forma bastante natural.

Existem dois traços de carácter que nos fazem mais como Satanás:

1. Orgulho: C. S. Lewis disse: "O maior mal é o orgulho. Impureza, raiva, ganância, embriaguez são meras picadas de pulga em comparação. Foi através do orgulho que o diabo se tornou o diabo. É o estado de espírito anti-Deus completo." O orgulho é pensar mais de nós do que devemos, sentir que somos melhores do que os outros. É uma presunção arrogante. O orgulho é acima de tudo, não sentir a necessidade de Deus, considerando-se auto-suficiente. A pessoa cheia deste tipo de orgulho é mais como o próprio diabo.

2. Maledicência maliciosa/Calúnia: a palavra grega para isto é "diabolos", também traduzido como "o diabo". As pessoas que são julgadoras, maldizentes e caluniadoras são como o diabo. Porque, sabes, em suma, ele é apenas um grande mentiroso.

Orgulho e maledicência maliciosa, mentir, são traços de carácter que nos tornam mais como o diabo. O homem feito à imagem de Deus parece muito bom, mas quando o homem se parece com o diabo, ele é feio. Com quem te pareces?

I know that the answer most of us will have to the following question is a resounding, "No!" But keep reading anyway. Here goes: "Do you want to live like the devil?" For some of us, that’s easy to do. In fact, most of us come by it quite naturally.

There are two character traits that make us most like Satan:

1. Pride: C. S. Lewis said, "The utmost evil is pride. Unchastity, anger, greed, drunkenness are mere flea bites in comparison. It was through pride that the devil became the devil. It is the complete anti-God state of mind." Pride is thinking more highly of ourselves than we should, feeling we are better than others. It is arrogant conceit. Pride is most of all, feeling no need for God, considering yourself self-reliant. The person filled with this kind of pride is most like the devil himself.

2. Malicious Gossip/Slander: the Greek word for this is "diabolos", also translated "the devil". People who are judgmental, gossip and slander others are like the devil. Because, you see, in short, he’s just a big liar.

Pride and malicious gossiping, lying, are character traits that make us most like the devil. Man made in the image of God looks pretty good, but when man resembles the devil he sure is ugly. Who do you look like?
