Ao Perseguires O Sucesso... # As You Pursue Success…

Merriam Webster define o sucesso como: o facto de obter ou alcançar riqueza, respeito ou fama; o resultado correcto ou desejado de uma tentativa; alguém ou algo que é bem sucedido; ou uma pessoa ou coisa que tem sucesso. Não é uma palavra particularmente difícil de definir no papel, mas é uma história bem diferente quando é algo que estás a tentar alcançar.

Stephen Berglas na Síndrome do Sucesso – Bater No Fundo Quando Chegas Ao Topo, escreve sobre a crise do sucesso. Ele diz que uma das principais causas é a "ansiedade" ou o medo de que não serás capaz de repetir ou sustentar conquistas anteriores. Então, aqui estão alguns pensamentos a considerar ao perseguires o sucesso:

1. O preço do sucesso não é apenas trabalho duro e sacrifício, mas a crise que enfrentas quando o sucesso finalmente chega. Alguns estão aturdidos pelo vazio que sentem quando os objectivos são alcançados.

2. Com os privilégios do sucesso vem um maior sentido de responsabilidade.

3. Surpreendentemente, o desafio mais difícil para o carácter de uma pessoa não é a adversidade, mas como lidar com os privilégios e as pressões do sucesso.

Então, porquê buscá-lo? Deus quer que façamos o máximo dos nossos talentos para a Sua glória. E esta é a chave: a Sua glória, não a nossa. Quando o ganhamos e o aproveitamos da forma que Deus quer, percebemos que é a única maneira de realmente desfrutar o sucesso.

Merriam Webster defines success as: the fact of getting or achieving wealth, respect, or fame; the correct or desired result of an attempt; someone or something that is successful; or a person or thing that succeeds. Not a particularly hard word to define on paper, but a much different story when it’s something you’re trying to achieve.

Stephen Berglas in The Success Syndrome – Hitting Bottom When You Reach The Top, writes about the crisis of success. He says one major cause is "encore anxiety" or fear that you won’t be able to repeat or sustain earlier achievements. So here are a few thoughts to consider as you pursue success:

1. The price of success is not just hard work and sacrifice, but the crisis you face when success finally comes. Some are dumbfounded by the emptiness they feel when goals are achieved.

2. With the privileges of success come a greater sense of responsibility.

3. Surprisingly, the toughest challenge to a person’s character is not adversity, but how one deals with the privileges and pressures of success.

So, why seek it? God wants us to make the most of our talents for His glory. And that’s the key: His glory, not ours. When we earn it and make the most of it God’s way, we realize it’s the only way to truly enjoy success.

Estas Sério Sobre Seguir Jesus? # Are You Serious About Following Jesus?

A preocupação primordial de um Cristão deve ser obedecer a Deus. Devemos fazê-lo porque confiamos Nele e O amamos. E se formos colocados numa situação em que a autoridade terrena está a pressionar-nos a desobedecer ao mandamento de Deus, temos uma decisão a tomar: obedecer à lei terrena ou à lei de Deus. Isto é o que é a desobediência civil. Mas há um espírito em que isto deve ser feito. Sabes, uma das razões pelas quais Martin Luther King, Jr. foi um homem incrível é que quando foi preso por desobedecer às leis imorais do homem sobre segregação, ele estava disposto a pagar o preço. Ele reconheceu se vamos desobedecer às autoridades governamentais, não importa quão corruptas possam ser, temos que estar dispostos a pagar o preço.

Se tu, como Cristão, és chamado a obedecer a Deus e a desobedecer a alguma autoridade terrena, não fiques a lamentar-te e a murmurar, a exigir os teus direitos e a falar sobre quão injusto é! Aceita! Alegra-te com isso! Não devemos ficar zangados com aqueles que nos tratam injustamente, devemos amá-los. Devemos perdoá-los. Toda a nossa conduta e espírito deve ser diferente e é isso que atrai a atenção do mundo! Vão começar a perceber que tu está realmente sério sobre seguir Jesus! Isto é o que Deus quer que façamos e é assim que Ele quer que respondamos.

The paramount concern of a Christian should be to obey God. We are to do this because we trust Him and love Him. And if we’re put in a situation where that earthly authority is pressuring us to disobey the command of God, we have a decision to make: to obey earthly law or God’s law. That’s what civil disobedience is all about. But there’s a spirit in which to do it. You know, one of the reasons that Martin Luther King, Jr. was such an amazing man is that when he was arrested for disobeying man’s immoral laws on segregation, he was willing to pay the price. He recognized if we’re going to disobey government authorities, no matter how corrupt it may be, we’ve got to be willing to pay the penalty.

If you, as a Christian, are called to obey God and disobey some earthly authority, don’t be moaning and groaning, demanding your rights and talking about how unfair it is! Accept it! Rejoice in it! We’re not to be angry with those who are unjustly treating us, we’re to love them. We’re to forgive them. Our whole demeanor and spirit is to be different, and this is what gets the attention of the world! They will begin to realize you are really serious about following Jesus! That’s what God wants us to do and that’s how He wants us to respond.
