Oh, A Tolice Do Orgulho! # Oh, The Foolishness Of Pride!

O nome Titanic sempre foi precedido pela palavra "insumergível". A bordo, o capitão e outros brincaram: "Até Deus não poderia afundar o Titanic!" Mas será para sempre um dos maiores exemplos do século XX da tolice de orgulho.

Era um dia de Primavera, 10 de Abril de 1912, para ser exacto e parecia que todo o Southampton, Inglaterra, tinha se reunido num só lugar para celebrar uma das realizações do homem. Cerca de 2.200 pessoas tiveram o privilégio de uma visão em primeira mão, entre elas algumas das pessoas mais ricas do mundo. Parecia que o mundo inteiro estava maravilhado com esta incrível realização: onze andares de altura, 275 metros de comprimento, 46.000 toneladas. Impossível! No entanto, apenas cinco dias depois, às 2:20 da manhã de 15 de Abril de 1912, tudo desvaneceu, desapareceu, um enorme naufrágio no fundo do mar.

The name Titanic was always preceded with the word "unsinkable". On board, the Captain and others joked, "Even God couldn’t sink the Titanic!" But it will forever serve as one of the twentieth century’s greatest examples of the foolishness of pride.

It was a spring day, April 10, 1912, to be exact and it seemed that all of Southampton, England, had gathered in one place to celebrate one of the pinnacle accomplishments of man. About 2,200 people had the privilege of a first-hand view, among them some of the wealthiest people in the world. It seemed the whole world was marveling at this awesome accomplishment: eleven stories high, 900 feet long, 46,000 tons. Unsinkable! Yet just five days later, at 2:20 a.m. on April 15, 1912, it was all gone, disappeared, a massive wreckage at the bottom of the sea.

God’s Word says, "Pride goes before a fall, and a haughty spirit before stumbling." Prideful "Titanics" sink into destruction, but a good life that is humble before God and man has a better chance to withstand the storms of life.

Confias Suficientemente Em Deus Para Obedecê-Lo? # Do You Trust God Enough To Obey Him?

Um dos muitos grandes mistérios da Bíblia é a razão pela qual Deus colocou aquela ÚNICA árvore no Jardim do Éden da qual o homem não devia comer. Já te perguntaste porquê? Deus deu ao homem muita coisa para comer, mas colocou aquela árvore no meio do jardim e disse a Adão que não devia comer dela.

Bem, a razão é muito simples. Deus ama-nos e criou-nos para ter comunhão com Ele. Não há verdadeiro amor num relacionamento a menos que sejamos livres para rejeitar esse amor. Deus deu ao homem um livre arbítrio para decidir se O amamos suficientemente para confiar Nele e confiar suficientemente para obedecer-Lhe. Amar Deus é obedecê-Lo. É uma escolha. Se não temos escolha, não temos oportunidade de amar. Em vez disso, somos robôs ou fantoches.

Mas, o que é realmente surpreendente, é que o amor de Deus é tão grande que, mesmo que todos escolhamos desobedecer-Lhe mais frequentemente do que gostaríamos de admitir, Ele dá-nos uma maneira de sermos perdoados, transformados e capacitados para amá-Lo através de Jesus Cristo. Porque não escolhes Cristo com fé e serás perdoado e tornado justo diante de Deus. É um relacionamento como nenhum que já conheceste antes!

One of the many great mysteries in the Bible is why God put that ONE tree in the Garden of Eden from which man was not to eat. Have you ever wondered why? God provided man plenty to eat, but He put that one tree in the middle of the garden and told Adam that he must not eat from it.

Well, the reason is very simple. God loves us and He created us to have fellowship with Him. There is not true love in a relationship unless we are free to reject that love. God gave man a free will to decide if we love Him enough to trust Him, and trust Him enough to obey Him. To love God is to obey Him. It’s a choice. If we have no choice, we have no opportunity to love. Instead, we’re robots or puppets.

But, what is really amazing, God’s love is so great that even though we all choose to disobey Him more often than we’d like to admit, He gives us a way to be forgiven, changed, and empowered to love Him through Jesus Christ. Why don’t you choose Christ in faith and you’ll be forgiven and made right with God. It’s a relationship like none you’ve known before!
