Tesouros Celestiais # Heavenly Treasures

Deus diz-nos (muito logicamente) que é impossível levar as nossas coisas terrenas connosco para o céu. Às vezes, tenho que abanar a cabeça a algumas pessoas que parecem pensar o contrário. No entanto, porque NÃO PODEMOS, Deus adverte-nos para não enfatizar a colecção de bens materiais enquanto andamos pela terra. Eles não têm continuidade, nem durante a nossa breve permanência na terra (onde as traças e a ferrugem os destruirão), nem no céu, para onde certamente não podem ser levados. Mas, enquanto Deus deixa claro que juntar coisas é fútil, Ele diz-nos que existem alguns tesouros que podemos levar connosco para o céu, e Ele encoraja-nos a começar a construir esses ingredientes agora mesmo!

É mesmo? Que tesouros?

Os tesouros mais gloriosos que nos esperam no céu são os relacionamentos que temos com as pessoas que apontámos para Cristo aqui na terra, assim como aqueles que tivemos com outros Cristãos. Na verdade, as únicas coisas que podes levar contigo desta vida para a eternidade são esses relacionamentos! Deus é claro. Ele quer que escolhamos relações sobre o material.

Então, que escolha fizeste? Estás a viver para as coisas? Estás a viver para o poder? Estás a basear as tuas decisões sobre o que queres? Ou estás a colocar Deus em primeiro lugar e a procurar apontar outros para Cristo através do teu testemunho, serviço e dons? Isto leva aos tesouros que irás experimentar no céu. Investir em pessoas para Cristo tem retornos duradouros.

Que tipo de tesouro estás a juntar no céu?

God tells us (quite logically) that it is impossible to take our earthly things with us to heaven. Sometimes, I have to shake my head at some people who seem to think otherwise. However, because we CAN’T, God warns us not to emphasize the collection of material possessions while we walk the earth. They have no permanence, not during our brief stay on earth (where moths and rust will destroy them), nor in heaven, where they most certainly cannot be brought along. But, while God makes it clear that collecting things is futile, He does tell us that there are some treasures we can take with us to heaven, and He urges us to begin building those ingredients right now!

Really? What treasures?

The most glorious treasures waiting for us in heaven are those relationships we have with people that we pointed to Christ here on earth, as well as those we had with fellow Christians. In fact, the only things you can take with you from this life into eternity are those relationships! God is clear. He wants us to choose relationships over material.

So, what choice have you made? Are you living for things? Are you living for power? Are you basing your decisions on what you want? Or are you putting God first and seeking to point others to Christ from your witness, service and gifts? This leads to the treasures you will experience in heaven. Investing in people for Christ has lasting returns.

A maioria nunca pensaria duas vezes sobre um poste, mas o artista francês OakOak imaginou um minúsculo OVNI a usar o seu feixe tractor numa pobre e distraída vaca. Esta diversão criativa foi concluída em Dresden, na Alemanha em Setembro passado.

Some people just see the world differently. Most would never think twice about a bollard, but French artist OakOak envisioned a tiny UFO using its tractor beam on a poor, unsuspecting cow. This creative diversion was completed in Dresden, Germany last September.

Não Importa O Que Está No Teu Passado... # No Matter What Is In Your Past…

Todos sabemos (e a maioria de nós lembra-se) que os adolescentes tendem a fazer muitas coisas sem pensar. Bem, havia dois adolescentes que viviam numa pequena aldeia onde a maioria vivia como pastores ou alguma forma de lidar com ovelhas. Um dia, estes miúdos decidiram roubar algumas ovelhas e vendê-las. Teria sido um bom plano, mas foram apanhados! E, para dar um exemplo aos outros, os anciãos da aldeia marcaram as suas testas com as letras "ST". Esta marca visível da sua vergonha também advertiria para sempre os outros que estavam na presença de um "Ladrão de Ovelhas" (em inglês "ST" de "Sheep Thief").

Um deles ficou amargurado. A sua vida progressivamente foi caindo para baixo até o dia em que morreu durante uma fúria de bebedeira. Mas o outro jovem confessou o seu pecado, acertou com o Senhor e construiu uma vida de integridade, uma vida de confiança, compaixão e serviço que trouxe grande respeito por toda aquela pequena aldeia. Um dia, o homem agora idoso passou por um pai e o seu filho ao longo da estrada. O menino perguntou ao seu pai porquê tinha o velho as letras "ST" na sua testa. O pai pensou por um momento e respondeu: "Alguém explicou-me isso há muito tempo, mas não me lembro o que era. Mas, conhecendo o homem como ele é, acho que apenas representa Santo!"

Isto é o que o poder de Jesus pode fazer numa vida individual. Transformar sobrenaturalmente a vida de um pecador na vida de um santo. Não importa qual é o teu passado, Jesus pode purificar-te e colocar-te num caminho de grande valor. Com o passar do tempo, isto pode fazer com que esqueças o mal e respeites o bom que Deus coloca em ti e nos outros.

We all know (and most of us remember) that teenagers tend to do a lot of things without thinking. Well, there were two teenagers that were living in a small village where most made their living either as a shepherd or in some way dealing with sheep. One day, these boys decided to steal a few sheep and sell them. It would have been a good plan, but they got caught! And, to make an example to others, the village elders branded their foreheads with the letters "ST". This visible reminder of their shame would also forever warn others they were in the presence of a "Sheep Thief".

One boy was embittered. His life spiraled progressively downward until the day he fell to his death during a drunken rage. But the other young man confessed his sin, got right with the Lord, and built a life of integrity, a life of trust, compassion and service that brought great respect throughout that little village. One day, the now-elderly man passed a father and his son along the road. The boy asked his dad why the old man had the letters "ST" on his forehead. The father thought for a moment and replied, "Somebody explained that to me a long time ago, but I just can’t remember what it was. But, knowing the man that he is, I guess it just stands for Saint!"

That’s what the power of Jesus can do in an individual life. Supernaturally transforming the life of a sinner into the life of a saint. No matter what your past, Jesus can cleanse you and put you on a path of great value. Over time, it can cause you to forget the bad and respect the good God puts into you and others.
