A Arder! # On Fire!
Já conheceu alguém que acabou de se tornar Cristão e que estava "a arder" para Deus? Será que disse a si mesmo: "Quem me dera ser ainda assim?" Não temos a intenção que isso aconteça, mas depois de algum tempo, aquela paixão ou alegria muitas vezes desaparece e outras coisas na vida tomam a prioridade e o foco. Ou talvez, nunca teve mesmo esse "fogo" porque nasceu na igreja e tem sido Cristão durante quase toda a sua vida.
Seja qual for o motivo, não está sozinho. De facto, o Salmista até pediu para aquela alegria fosse restaurada como antes. Enquanto lemos isto devemos perceber que a salvação vem do Senhor e não das nossas próprias acções. Muitas vezes substituímos "Sua" neste verso com "minha". Leia estes versículos hoje e concentre-se no trabalho de Jesus na nossa salvação e permita que Ele traga de volta a alegria do Evangelho que possa ter ficado no banco de trás na sua vida.
"Porque todos pecaram e destituídos estão da glória de Deus;" (Romanos 3:23)
"Mas Deus prova o seu amor para connosco, em que Cristo morreu por nós, sendo nós ainda pecadores." (Romanos 5:8)
"Porque há um só Deus e um só mediador entre Deus e os homens, Jesus Cristo homem." (1 Timóteo 2:5)
"Porque Deus amou o mundo de tal maneira que deu o seu Filho unigénito, para que todo aquele que nele crê não pereça, mas tenha a vida eterna." (João 3:16)

Have you ever met someone who had just become a Christian and was “on fire” for God? Did you say to yourself, "I wish I were still like that?" We don’t intend for it to happen, but after time, that passion or joy often ebbs and other things in life take priority and focus. Or maybe, you never even had that "fire" because you were born in the church and have been a Christian for nearly your entire life.
Whatever the reason is, you are not alone. In fact, the Psalmist even asked for that joy to be restored as it once had been. As we read this we must realize that salvation is from the Lord and not of our own doing. We often substitute the “Your” in this verse with “my”. Read these verses today and focus on the work of Jesus in our salvation and allow Him to bring back the joy of the Gospel that may have taken a backseat in your life.
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," (Romans 3:23 ESV)
"But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8 ESV)
"For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus," (1 Timothy 2:5 ESV)
"For God so loved the world, that he gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16 ESV)
