Poucas pessoas mudam todo o seu estilo de vida, ficam em forma, comem melhor, tornam-se mais saudáveis, mais felizes e indivíduos com mente positiva. A maioria apenas emagrecem e ganham peso outra vez.

Few people change their entire lifestyle, become fit, eat better, become healthier, happier, and positive-minded individuals. Most just get skinnier and gain weight back.

Cristo Em Desentendimentos # Christ In Disagreements

Tendo o casamento entre pessoas do mesmo sexo sido legalizado em Portugal (desde 2010), há muitos Cristãos que estão legitimamente chateados. Se lerem os vossos Facebook ou Twitter, poderão ver a ira em ambos os lados do debate enquanto argumentam por todos os lados. Cada um dizendo que estão a ser simpáticos, mas muitas vezes não o demonstram nas suas palavras e acções. Como um seguidor de Jesus, quero dar-lhe algumas formas como podemos mostrar Cristo nas nossas interacções com aqueles com quem discordamos.

Seja Luz – Jesus é chamado a verdadeira luz em João 1. Lemos que Ele ilumina todos. Ele traz à luz o seu pecado e aponta-os para outro caminho. Também somos chamados a ser luz num mundo em trevas em Mateus 5:14-16. Parte disto é separar-se das trevas, o pecado do mundo. Não há nada de errado em deixar as pessoas saberem que não concorda com o seu estilo de vida e que acredita que é pecado.

Leve Esperança – Jesus não só trazia à luz o pecado à Sua volta, Ele também levava a esperança. Em João 4 Jesus tem uma interacção com uma mulher Samaritana que estava mergulhada no pecado sexual. Ele levou a luz, mas também partilhou com ela a esperança do que ela podia ter Nele, a vida eterna. Jesus diz-nos em João 3:17 que Ele não veio para condenar, mas para salvar. Jesus sempre mostrou ao povo a esperança que podem ter Nele. cada um de nós estava sem esperança antes de se tornar um seguidor de Jesus. Como Cristãos devemos estar a partilhar a esperança que recebemos quando começámos a seguir Jesus.

Aponte Para Jesus – Podemos também muitas vezes ser apanhados nos nossos sentimentos e o que achamos que é certo. O nosso objectivo pode se tornar estarmos certos, em vez de trazermos as pessoas para um relacionamento com Jesus. Não nos esqueçamos disto! Sejamos como João Baptista, que apontou para Jesus como o Cordeiro de Deus que tira os pecados do mundo em João 1. Ou, como o Apóstolo Paulo que veio pregar a Cristo crucificado em 1 Coríntios 1 e 2.

Lembre-se Do Futuro – Por último, precisamos lembrar-nos que ainda não estamos no céu (1 Pedro 2:11). Portugal não é governado por Deus e a Bíblia e nunca foi, nem nunca será. A nossa esperança não é que possamos transformar um lugar neste planeta num paraíso, mas que vamos passar a eternidade com o verdadeiro Rei no futuro próximo. Ele será aquele que governa com justiça e sem pecado.

With same sex marriage being legalized in the United States, there are many Christians who are rightfully upset. If you read your Facebook or twitter feeds, you can see the anger on both sides of the debate as they argue back and forth. Each saying they are being loving, but many times not showing it in their words and actions. As a follower of Jesus, I want to give you a few ways we can show Christ in our interactions with those we disagree with.

Be Light – Jesus is called the true light in John 1. It says that He enlightens everyone. He brings to light their sin and points them to another way. We are also called to be light in a dark world in Matthew 5:14-16. Part of this is separating yourself from darkness, the sin of the world. There is nothing wrong with letting people know that you disagree with their lifestyle and that you believe it is a sin.

Bring Hope – Not only did Jesus bring to light the sin around Him, He also brought hope. In John 4 Jesus has an interaction with a Samaritan woman who was deep in sexual sin. He brought it to light, but also shared with her the hope she can have in Him, eternal life. Jesus tells us in John 3:17 that He didn’t come to condemn, but to save. Jesus always showed the hope people can have in Him. You were without hope before you became a follower of Jesus. As Christians we should be sharing the hope we received when we started following Jesus.

Point To Jesus – We can too often get caught up in our feelings and what we think is right. Our goal can become to be right, instead of bringing people into a relationship with Jesus. Let us not forget this! Let us be like John the Baptist who pointed to Jesus as the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world in John 1. Or, the Apostle Paul who came preaching Christ crucified in 1 Corinthians 1 and 2.

Remember The Future – Lastly, we need to remember that we are not yet in heaven (1 Peter 2:11). America is not ruled by God and the Bible and never was, nor will it ever be. Our hope is not that we can turn a place on this planet into a heaven, but that we will spend eternity with the true King in the coming future. He will be the one who rules justly and without sin.

Humilhado # Humbled

Deus é grande, nós somos pequenos. Deus é perfeito, nós não somos. Deus é todo-poderoso, nós somos fracos. Deus nunca tem fim, mas nós temos alguns anos na terra que Ele criou. Deus está para além de nós, como o fim do universo está para além da terra. Triliões de anos-luz separam o limite do espaço ilimitado e as brilhantes estrelas ardentes, mas tudo cai sob a mão de Deus. Devemos ter o cuidado de lembrar-nos disto quando falamos Dele.

Quando falamos de Deus, devemos ter a certeza de que entendemos que nunca podemos compreendê-Lo totalmente. Sim, Ele se revelou a nós, mas apenas em parte. Quando pensamos em Deus, devemos nos lembrar de que os Seus "pensamentos não são os [nossos] pensamentos", e "nem os [nossos] caminhos [os Seus] caminhos". Deve haver uma humildade em nós quando pensamos ou falamos de Deus, uma profunda reverência que sabe que Ele está para além de nós em todos os sentidos. E este respeito, se feito em consciência, não vai nos levar para mais longe de Deus, mas mais perto. Ele vai fazê-lo porque vamos pedir com o Salmista, "Que é o homem mortal para que Te lembres dele? e o filho do homem, para que o visites?" (Salmo 8:4) Não há nada que Deus receba de nós que Ele não possa receber melhor de Si mesmo, no entanto, Ele ainda nos ama e nos procura. Deus é definitivamente amor, e isso nos faz querer conhecer e ser surpreendido por Ele.

God is big, we are small. God is perfect, we are not. God is all-powerful, we are weak. God is never ending, we have but a few years on the earth He created. God is beyond us, like the end of the universe is beyond the earth. Trillions of lightyears separate the boundary of limitless space and bright burning stars, yet it all falls under God’s hand. We should be careful to remember this when we speak of Him.

When we talk of God, we should make certain we understand that we can never fully understand Him. Yes, He has revealed Himself to us, but only in part. When we think of God, we should remember that His "thoughts are not [our] thoughts", and "neither are [our] ways [His] ways". There should be a humility in us when we think or speak of God, a deep reverence that knows He is beyond us in every way. And this respect, if held rightly, won’t lead us further from God, but closer. It will do so because we will ask with the Psalmist, "what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You care for him?" (Psalm 8:4) There is nothing God gets from us that He can’t get better from Himself, yet, He still loves and pursues us. God is definitely love, and this makes us want to know and be amazed by Him.
