A palavra "jugo" pode ser estranho para aqueles de nós que vivemos numa nação industrializada. Basicamente, um jugo é um pedaço de madeira que é utilizada para prender dois animais juntos, geralmente bois, para ajudá-los a partilhar a carga ao puxar uma caixa ou um atrelado de algum tipo. A chave aqui é que o jugo permite que os animais apoiem um ao outro ao puxar a pesada carga.
Ao vivermos as nossas vidas, ficamos muitas vezes presos no jugo de muitas coisas. Podemos ficar no jugo de uma decisão pessoal que está a pesar muito sobre nós. Podemos ficar num jugo com um cônjuge que nos ajuda nos momentos difíceis. Podemos até ficar no jugo do pecado, como os Israelitas estavam com Baal (Números 25:3). Não importa como olhamos para ele, estamos presos num jugo de alguma coisa, seja bom ou mau.
Jesus diz-nos para irmos e tomar o Seu jugo e encontraremos descanso. Curiosamente, Jesus não diz que Ele vai levar os nossos fardos e prender o Seu jugo a esse fardo enquanto esperamos a assistir. Não, Ele leva-nos sob o Seu jugo e carrega esses fardos connosco ao longo do caminho. Por sua vez, Ele assume a maior parte da carga e torna-a "leve" para nós. Também "aprendemos" de Jesus enquanto carregamos o fardo com Ele. Isso permite-nos aprender a mudar a partir de dentro, em vez de repetirmos os mesmos erros vez após vez. Existe alguma coisa que o esteja a puxar para baixo que não tenha entregue a Jesus hoje?

The word "yoke" can be foreign to those of us living in an industrialized nation. Basically, a yoke is a piece of wood that is used to hold two animals together, usually oxen, to help them share the load in pulling a till or a buggy of some sort. The key here is that the yoke allows the animals to support each other in pulling the heavy weight.
As we live our lives, we are often times yoked by many things. We might be yoked with a personal decision that is weighing heavy on us. We might even be yoked with a spouse who helps us in the hard times. We can even be yoked to sin as the Israelites were with Baal (Numbers 25:3). No matter how you look at it, we are yoked to something, whether good or bad.
Jesus tells us to come and take His yoke and we will find rest. Interestingly, Jesus doesn’t say He will take our burdens and attach His yoke to it as we standby and watch. No, He takes us under His yoke and carries those burdens with us along the way. In turn, He takes the majority of the burden and makes it "light" for us. We also "learn" from Jesus as we carry the burden with Him. This allows us to learn to change from the inside instead of repeating the same wrong things over and over. Is there something pulling you down that you haven’t given to Jesus today?
