A Glória De Deus, O Nosso Bem # God’s Glory, Our Good

Todos já ouvimos a história de Josué a lutar na batalha de Jericó. Se cresceu na igreja, poderá até ter aprendido uma canção sobre isso. É uma história popular com que muitos estão familiarizados, mas há muito a aprender sobre a maneira como Deus trabalhou nesta narrativa.

Josué estava a liderar os Israelitas para a terra prometida e chegou a hora de tomar a sua primeira cidade. Chegaram a Jericó apenas para enfrentar uma cidade extremamente bem fortificada. Não parecia nada bom para os Israelitas. Então Deus disse a Josué para marchar à volta da cidade durante seis dias e soprar nos chifres, e ao fazer isso, eles ganhariam Jericó (Josué 6:1-6). Isto pareceu loucura, mas não foi, porque o plano de Deus foi receber a glória no final. Depois do grito final e a tomada de Jericó, havia apenas uma pessoa que poderia receber a glória, que era Deus. Ele faz isso também nas nossas vidas. Podemos pensar que estamos diante de um obstáculo que não pode ser abalado, mas temos um Deus que cuida do Seu povo para a Sua glória.

David Platt, no seu livro Radical diz sobre esta escritura:

"É assim que Deus trabalha. Ele coloca as pessoas em posições onde elas estão desesperadas pelo Seu poder, e em seguida Ele mostra a Sua provisão de formas que mostram a Sua grandeza."

We have all heard the story of Joshua fighting the Battle of Jericho. If you grew up in the church, you might have even learned a song about it. It is a popular story that many are familiar with, but there is much to learn about the way God worked in this narrative.

Joshua was leading the Israelites into the promised land and it came time to take their first city. They arrived at Jericho only to face an extremely well fortified city. It didn’t look good for the Israelites. God then told Joshua to march around the city for six days and blow horns, and in doing so, they would win Jericho (Joshua 6:1-6). This sounds crazy, but it wasn’t, because God’s plan was to get the glory in the end. After the final shout and the taking of Jericho, there was only one person that could receive the glory, that was God. He does this in our lives as well. We might think we are up against an obstacle that cannot be moved, but we have a God who takes care of His people for His glory.

David Platt in his book Radical says about this scripture:

"This is how God works. He puts his people in positions where they are desperate for His power, and then He shows His provision in ways that display His greatness."
