A Bíblia não é simplesmente um livro grosso de regras que Deus atirou do topo do Monte Sinai. Pelo contrário, é uma colecção de testemunhos, ou a história de Deus que vem através do Seu povo. Embora a Escritura contenha listas como os Dez Mandamentos e livros como Levítico, ela é composta principalmente de histórias do povo de Deus. Em suma, a Bíblia é um livro sobre Deus escrita por Ele através de pessoas. A própria forma que Ele escolheu para revelar-Se a nós mostra que Ele quer ter um relacionamento connosco. E, como o Salmista, estes testemunhos devem ser o nosso prazer!

Devemos deliciar-nos com eles, porque:

Eles são verdadeiros e inflexíveis (João 17:17; Marcos 14:66-72).
Eles falam para todas as áreas da vida, porque a abrangência de Deus é ilimitada (Isaías 48:3).
Eles são infinitamente sábios (1 Coríntios 1:25; 2 Timóteo 3:16-17), ainda que muitas das pessoas que neles estejam não eram.

Revisite estas Escrituras quando se encontrar com Deus na Sua palavra e seja grato. Na Bíblia temos a maior fonte de verdade, direcção e sabedoria que jamais houve. E mais uma vez, como é que Deus escolheu para ensinar e revelar isto a nós? Através das histórias tanto de fiéis como infiéis nas Escrituras. Não só testemunhamos a bênção dos justos, como o resultado final da maldade. Deus mostra-nos pela vida real através de pessoas reais como o verdadeiro Cristianismo deve ser vivido. Ele não nos deixou no escuro.

The Bible isn’t simply a thick rule book God threw down from atop Mount Sinai. Rather, it’s a collection of testimonies, or the story of God coming through for His people. Though Scripture does contain lists like the Ten Commandments and books like Leviticus, it is primarily comprised of the stories of God’s people. In short, the Bible is a book about God written by Him through people. The very way that He chose to reveal Himself to us displays that He wants to be in relationship with us. And, like the Psalmist, those testimonies should be our delight!

We should delight in them because:

They are true and unflinching (John 17:17; Mark 14:66-72).
They speak to every direction of life because God’s scope is unlimited (Isaiah 48:3).
They are infinitely wise (1 Corinthians 1:25; 2 Timothy 3:16-17), even if many of the people in them were not.

Revisit these Scriptures when you meet with God in His word and be thankful. In the Bible we have the greatest source of truth, direction and wisdom that has ever been. And again, how did God choose to teach and reveal these to us? Through the stories of both the faithful and unfaithful in Scripture. Not only do we witness the blessing of the righteous but the end result of wickedness. God shows us in real life through real people how real Christianity ought to be lived. He has not left us in the dark.
