Já te sentiste frustrado contigo mesmo? Não importa o esforço que fazes, simplesmente não consegues acertar. Tentas ser paciente com este colega de trabalho, mas a atitude e a personalidade dele acabam por colocar-te no caminho errado. E o teu cônjuge? Ele ou ela sabe exactamente o que dizer para entrar debaixo da tua pele. E aquele vício? Todos os Sábados decides acabar, apenas para ceder até à Terça-feira (às vezes Sábado à tarde).
Mesmo os grandes seguidores de Jesus lutam com o pecado. Um dos mais dedicados Cristãos do primeiro século, o apóstolo Paulo, o próprio homem que foi inspirado pelo Espírito Santo a escrever grande parte do Novo Testamento, ainda lutava contra o pecado.
Então o que podemos fazer? Uma das formas da qual a Bíblia fala é observar a Ceia do Senhor com outros crentes como uma renovação da nossa fé. Este é um tempo de gratidão ao pensarmos na crucificação de Cristo. Recordamos o preço que Jesus pagou para que pudéssemos ser perdoados, o julgamento que merecíamos pelos nossos pecados.
Observar regularmente a Ceia do Senhor com outros crentes é uma oportunidade para renovar a nossa fé. É onde um Cristão, sujo pelo pecado e a viver esta vida, se lembra o que Cristo fez para pagar a pena por todo este pecado. Por gratidão, renovamos os nossos votos de compromisso com Ele.
Todos temos bagagem. Não há uma pessoa viva que tenha tudo certo. Todos lutamos com os nossos pecados. Na Ceia do Senhor, somos levados de volta ao incrível amor de Jesus. Somos levados de volta ao facto de que Cristo pagou o preço final, para morrer por nós na cruz. Quando nos lembramos disto, a Ceia do Senhor é uma renovação da fé, não para nos esforçarmos mais, mas um compromisso renovado de seguir Jesus em gratidão pela Sua graça e amor por nós.
Estás pronto para isto? Tenho boas notícias. Não precisas de esperar pela Ceia do Senhor. Podes fazê-lo hoje. Pára de arrastar a tua bagagem, basta deixá-la aos pés da cruz. Então, a observância da Ceia do Senhor significará muito mais.

You try to be patient with that work colleague, but his attitude and personality just rub you the wrong way. What about your spouse? He or she knows exactly what to say to get under your skin. That addiction? Every Sabbath you decide to quit, only to give in by Tuesday (sometimes by Sabbath afternoon).
Even great followers of Jesus struggle with sin. One of the most devoted Christians in the first century, the Apostle Paul, the very man who was inspired by the Holy Spirit to write much of the New Testament, still struggled with sin.
So, what can we do? One way the Bible talks about is observing the Lord’s Supper with other believers as a renewal of our faith. This is a time of gratitude in thinking back to the crucifixion of Christ. We remember the price that Jesus paid so that we could be forgiven, the judgement that we deserve because of our sins.
Regularly observing the Lord’s Supper with other believers is an opportunity to renew our faith. It’s where a Christian, dirtied by sin and living this life, remembers what Christ has done to pay the penalty for all that sin. Out of gratitude, we renew our vows of commitment to Him.
We all have baggage. There’s not a person alive that’s got it all together. We all struggle with our sins. In the Lord’s Supper, we are brought back to the incredible love of Jesus. We’re brought back to the fact that Christ has paid the ultimate price, to die for us on the cross. When we remember that, the Lord’s Supper is a renewal of faith, not to try harder, but a renewed commitment to follow Jesus in gratitude for His grace and love for us.
Are you ready for that? I have good news. You don’t have to wait on observing the Lord’s Supper. You can do it today. Stop dragging your baggage around, just leave it at the foot of the cross.Then the observance of the Lord’s Supper will mean even more.
