Sentes-te bem em ver alguém que te prejudicou, ou alguém que conheces, receber as suas justas recompensas? Vê a injustiça impelida sobre o Rei David da Bíblia. Através de uma série de traições, o seu vil filho, Absalão, tirou o trono que legitimamente pertencia a David. David protestou e clamou a Deus por justiça, mas reconheceu que a vingança é uma questão para Deus. Não demorou muito para que Absalão, que estava muito orgulhoso da sua cabeça de cabelo comprido, tivesse os seus belos cabelos presos numa árvore enquanto estava a passar. Ele não conseguiu se desenvencilhar e morreu ali mesmo. Deus trouxe a justiça de uma maneira bastante colorida, e embora ele chorasse pelo seu filho, David foi colocado novamente no trono.
Deus leva a justiça de formas diferentes. Às vezes, é através da iteração rotineira pessoal (e pacífica). No trabalho, quando há injustiça, os procedimentos normais de escritório podem resultar numa solução justa. Outras alturas e situações podem exigir o envolvimento da polícia ou dos tribunais. E às vezes a justiça não será revelada até depois da segunda vinda de Jesus, reconhecendo que Deus vê um quadro eterno que não podemos compreender enquanto envolvidos nas nossas questões temporais e terrenas.
Mas saibam isto: Deus fará justiça. Talvez não seja tão dramático como o culpado que ficou com o seu cabelo preso numa árvore. Mas no final, a justiça de Deus será certamente feita.

Does it feel good to see someone who has wronged you, or someone you know, get their just rewards? Look at the injustice thrust upon King David of the Bible. Through a series of betrayals, his vain young son, Absalom, took away the throne that rightfully belonged to David. David protested and cried out to God for justice, but recognized that vengeance is a matter for God. It wasn’t long before Absalom, who was very proud of his head of flowing hair, had his gorgeous locks caught in a tree as he was riding by. He couldn’t untangle himself and died right there. God brought about justice in a rather colorful manner, and although he wept for his son, David was restored to the throne.
God delivers justice in different ways. Sometimes it’s through routine personal (and peaceful) interaction. At work, when there is injustice, normal office procedures might result in a just solution. Other times and situations could require the involvement of the police or the courts. And sometimes justice will not be revealed until after the second coming of Jesus, recognizing that God sees an eternal picture that we cannot comprehend while wrapped up in our temporal, earthly matters.
But do know this: God will bring about justice. Maybe it won’t be as dramatic as the culprit getting his hair stuck in a tree. But in the end, God’s justice will most certainly be done.
