A Escritura Revela Jesus # Scripture Reveals Jesus

Como todos sabem, recentemente celebrámos o começo de um outro ano novo, a mudança de 2016 AD para 2017 AD (Anno Domini – quando traduzido significa, "No ano do nosso Senhor."). Engraçado como fazemos isto sem pensar muito na razão porque são usadas as iniciais AC (Antes de Cristo) e AD. E mais interessante é que mesmo aqueles que afirmam ser agnósticos ou ateus também as reconhecem! Sabem no que eu acredito? Acredito que Jesus Cristo é a pessoa mais influente da história. E sempre que escrevemos ou dizemos a data, é um testemunho a Ele, quer todos percebam ou não!

Ainda mais importante para lembrar-nos é que somos directamente dependentes da Escritura para dar-nos a visão completa de Jesus. Para conhecer Jesus, precisamos de conhecer as Escrituras. Jesus disse: "Não penseis que vim abolir a lei ou os profetas. Eu não vim para abolir, mas para cumprir." Todas as escrituras, desde Moisés e os profetas do Antigo Testamento aos Evangelhos, as epístolas de Paulo e a Revelação de João, revela-nos, Jesus.

Se ignorarmos a Escritura, não conheceremos Jesus. Quando escolhemos o que gostamos na Bíblia e ignoramos o que não gostamos, temos uma visão distorcida de Jesus. Temos um Jesus feito pelo homem, politicamente correto, que não é de todo Jesus. A Escritura revela o verdadeiro Jesus. Jesus revela-nos a Deus.

Conhece Jesus e conhecerás a Deus. Depois AC e AD terão um significado ainda maior para ti.

As you all know, we recently celebrated the beginning of another new year, changing from 2016 AD to 2017 AD (Anno Domini – when translated means, "In the year of our Lord."). Funny how we do that without giving much thought as to why the initials BC (Before Christ) and AD are used in the first place. And more interesting is that even those who claim to be agnostic or atheists also acknowledge them! Do you know what I believe? I believe that Jesus Christ is history’s most influential person. And every time we write or say the date, it’s a testimony to Him, whether everyone realizes it or not!

Even more important to remember is that we are directly dependent on Scripture to give us the full view of Jesus. To know Jesus, we need to know Scripture. Jesus said, "Do not think I came to abolish the law or the prophets. I did not come to abolish but to fulfill." All scripture, from Moses and the Old Testament prophets to the Gospels, the epistles of Paul, and John’s Revelation, reveals to us, Jesus.

If we ignore Scripture, we will not know Jesus. When we choose what we like in the Bible and ignore what we don’t, we get a distorted view of Jesus. We get a man-made, politically correct Jesus who is not Jesus at all. Scripture reveals the true Jesus. Jesus reveals God to us.

Get to know Jesus and you get to know God. Then BC and AD will have an even greater meaning to you.
