Orar No Novo Ano: Grandes Orações # Praying In The New Year: Big Prayers

Alguma vez já pensou em como limitado é o seu conhecimento? Pense em todos os livros na sua escola ou biblioteca local e adivinhe quantos deles já leu. Provavelmente nem mesmo o equivalente a uma prateleira. Há tantas coisas que acontecem na ciência, literatura, política ou mecânica que nunca poderemos conhecer um pouco que seja do que são ou o que significam.

Agora pense sobre Deus e o Seu conhecimento. Ele sabe tudo porque Ele criou tudo. Ele é o Deus que dividiu o Mar Vermelho e trouxe Lázaro de volta à vida. Ele é o Deus que trouxe as dez pragas sobre o Egipto e curou o paralítico. Não só Ele tem conhecimento, Ele é poderoso. Então, porque é que chegamos a Ele em oração com o que só conhecemos na nossa pequena caixa de conhecimento ou de como as coisas devem funcionar no nosso pequeno universo?

Paulo diz à igreja em Éfeso que eles podem orar grandes orações. Deus pode fazer mais do que podemos pedir ou mesmo pensar. Ele também o faz através de nós e tudo traz glória a Jesus. Sabe, nós podemos orar grandes orações, porque elas vão apontar para Jesus e não para nós mesmos. Não vamos receber o crédito, mas Ele sim.

Enquanto ora por este Novo Ano, peça a Deus para ajudá-lo a sair de sua zona de conforto e direccioná-lo para as grandes orações que Ele quer que ore. Deverá estar a orar pela pessoa que "nunca" irá mudar os seus hábitos e seguir Jesus? Deverá estar a orar a Deus para mudar uma comunidade que não quer ter nada a ver com Ele? Começa a ter uma ideia, certo?

Have you ever thought about how limited your knowledge is? Think of all of the books in your school or local library and guess how many of them you have read. Probably not even a shelves worth. There are so many things that go on in science, literature, politics, or mechanics that we can never know a small fraction of what they all do or mean.

Now think about God and his knowledge. He knows everything because He created everything. He is the God who split the Red Sea and brought Lazarus back to life. He is the God who brought the ten plagues on Egypt and healed the paralytic. Not only is He knowledgable, He is powerful. So, why do we come to him in prayer with what we only know in our little box of knowledge or how things should work in our little universe?

Paul tells the church in Ephesus that they can pray big prayers. God can do more than we can even ask or think. He also does it through us and it all brings glory to Jesus. You see, we can pray big prayers because they will point to Jesus and not ourselves. We won’t get the credit, but He will.

As you are praying for this New Year, ask God to help you step out of your comfort zone and to direct you to the big prayers He wants you to pray. Should you be praying for the person who would "never" change their ways and follow Jesus? Should you be praying for God to change a community and that wants nothing to do with Him? You get the idea, right?
