Que Tipo De Amigo És? # What Kind Of Friend Are You?

A maioria de nós lembrar-se-á da música tema popularizada na série de TV há alguns anos atrás chamada "Friends".

O refrão é assim:

"Eu estarei lá para ti
Quando a chuva começar a cair
Eu estarei lá para ti
Como estive lá antes
Eu estarei lá para ti
Porque tu também estás lá para mim."

É um sentimento com o qual qualquer pessoa consegue relacionar-se com amigos verdadeiros. Mas ter sentimentos emocionais sobre a amizade e colocar estes sentimentos em acção são duas coisas completamente diferentes.

A Palavra de Deus fala de amigos que queriam apresentar um amigo a Jesus. Quatro homens acreditavam que Jesus poderia curar o seu amigo paralisado. Mas eles tiveram um problema, não conseguiam levá-lo pela entrada! As multidões à volta de Jesus eram enormes. Mas isto não os impediu. Estavam tão determinados que subiram até o topo do telhado (carregando o homem!), fizeram uma abertura no telhado e, de alguma forma, baixaram o seu amigo numa palete no chão à frente donde estava Jesus. Que visão. Todos os olhos estavam nos discípulos e na resposta de Jesus. Eles acreditavam que Jesus curaria o seu amigo, e Ele o fez.

A melhor coisa que podemos fazer para qualquer amigo é apresentá-lo a Jesus. Ele não só conheceu a necessidade física do homem, mas a sua maior necessidade, o perdão dos seus pecados e a reconciliação com Deus. Quando percebes isto, torna a letra, "Eu estarei lá para ti" ter um significado completamente diferente.

Most of us will recognize the theme song made popular by the TV show a few years back called, "Friends".

The chorus goes like this:

"I’ll be there for you
When the rain starts to pour
I’ll be there for you
Like I’ve been there before
I’ll be there for you
‘Cause you’re there for me too."

It’s a sentiment that anyone can relate to about true friends. But having sentimental feelings about friendship and putting those feelings into action are two completely different things.

God’s Word tells of friends who wanted to introduce a friend to Jesus. Four men believed that Jesus could heal their paralyzed friend. But, they had a problem, they couldn’t get him in the doorway! The crowds around Jesus were too great. But that didn’t stop them. They were so determined that they climbed up to the top of the roof (carrying the man!), made an opening in the roof and somehow lowered their friend on a pallet down to the ground in front of where Jesus stood. What a sight. All eyes were on the disciples and Jesus’ response. They believed Jesus would heal their friend, and He did.

The greatest thing we can do for any friend is to introduce them to Jesus. He not only met the man’s physical need, but his greatest need, which is forgiveness of his sins and reconciliation with God. When you realize this, it makes the lyrics, "I’ll be there for you" have an entirely different meaning.
