Viver Nas Trevas É Tolice # Living In The Dark Is Foolish

À luz de todas as evidências da existência de Deus, onde parece tão convincente para tantos de nós que acreditam, surge a pergunta: "Porque é que as pessoas não acreditam?" Deus dá-nos a resposta no primeiro capítulo de João. "Nele estava a vida..." Por outras palavras, Jesus é a fonte de toda a vida: "...e a vida era a luz dos homens." Isto significa compreensão sobre Deus, sobre a vida, o seu definitivo significado e propósito.

João acrescenta: "...E a luz resplandece nas trevas, e as trevas não a compreenderam." Uma razão importante pela qual algumas pessoas não crêem em Deus é que elas simplesmente não conseguem compreender. Mas a razão principal pela qual o homem não compreende a existência de Deus é por causa do pecado do homem. O homem colocará uma tela de fumo intelectual em relação à ideologia ou a respeito da existência de Deus, mas a razão principal pela qual o homem não crê que Deus existe é por causa do pecado que faz com que o homem esteja em escuridão espiritual. E porque o pecado é o desejo do homem de estar no controlo e fazer as coisas à sua maneira, quando a luz se aproxima os homens correm da luz, porque querem continuar a viver nas trevas; ainda querem viver as suas vidas à sua maneira.

Jesus é luz, a fonte da definitiva iluminação sobre Deus e a vida. Viver na escuridão é tolice. É hora de acender a luz e viver.

In light of all the evidence of God’s existence, where it just seems so convincing to so many of us who do believe, the question rises, "Why don’t people believe?" God gives us the answer in the first chapter of John. "In Him was life..." In other words, Jesus is the source of all life: "...and the life was the light of men." That means enlightenment about God, about life, its ultimate meaning and purpose.

John goes on to add "...and the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it." One big reason some people don’t believe in God is they just can’t comprehend it. But the major reason that man does not comprehend the existence of God is because of man’s sin. Man will put up an intellectual smoke screen with regards to ideology or concerning the existence of God, but the major reason that man does not believe that God exists is because of sin that causes man to be in spiritual darkness. And because sin is man’s desire to be in control and do things his way, when the light comes on men scurry from the light, because they want to continue to live in the darkness; they still want to live their lives their way.

Jesus is light, the source of ultimate enlightenment about God and life. Living in the dark is foolishness. It’s time to turn the light on and live.
