Esperar Em Deus É Difícil # Waiting On God Is Tough

Eu não sei o que pensas, mas eu detesto esperar. E tu detestas esperar? Sabes que podes ir a uma consulta num consultório médico, digamos, às 9h00. Chegas lá, sentas-te, 5, 10, 15 minutos passam e eles não te chamam. Vais até à mesinha e começas a olhar à volta e tudo o que encontras é uma revista da Men's Health de 2015 e pode levar outros 30 a 45 minutos, ou até uma hora antes de chegarem até ti. Eu detesto isso.

Também não gosto de esperar nas longas filas dos supermercados, ficar preso no trânsito durante a hora de ponta ou ser colocado em espera por um computador. Na nossa cultura, esperar é uma perda de tempo. Mas uma coisa é certa: O que precisamos de fazer é confiar em Deus e estar dispostos a fazer a vontade Dele, no Seu tempo, não no nosso próprio, pois a acção correcta na hora certa equivale ao resultado correcto.

Então, o que realmente significa "esperar no Senhor?" Eu vou te dizer uma coisa, não significa apenas ficar parado e não fazer nada, essa não é a ideia. Eu sei que é assim que esperamos em muitas áreas da nossa vida. Temos que ficar parados e ficar quietos e não fazer nada. A palavra 'espera' no Hebraico original significa: "ser amarrado como uma corda ou torcido ou unido." Então, esperar no Senhor significa que confias Nele, humilhas-te e confias na Sua força, que obedeces à Sua Palavra e ordens. Ela transmite todos estes significados. Às vezes é muito difícil esperar no Senhor para que as coisas aconteçam, para que as coisas tomem o seu lugar, mas se fizermos aquelas coisas, se confiarmos no Senhor e se nos humilharmos sob a Sua poderosa mão e nos certificarmos de que Lhe obedecemos, então seremos abençoados. Esperar em Deus é difícil, mas o tempo de Deus é sempre melhor para nós e para os outros.

I don’t know about you but I hate to wait. Do you hate to wait? You know you can go and have an appointment at a doctor’s office, say at 9:00 am. You get in there, sit down, 5, 10, 15 minutes go by, and they haven’t called you. You go over to the magazine rack and start looking around and all you find is a 2015 Men's Health and it may be another 30-45 minutes, or even an hour before they get to you. I hate that.

I also don’t like to wait in long lines at supermarkets, being stuck in traffic during rush hour, or being put on hold by a computer. In our culture, waiting is a waste of time. But one thing’s for sure: What we need to do is to trust God and be willing to do His will, in His timing, not our own, for the right action at the right time equals the right result.

So, what does it really mean to "wait on the Lord?" I’ll tell you one thing, it doesn’t mean just to stand still and do nothing, that’s not the idea. I know that is the way we wait in many areas of our life. We have to stand still and be quiet and not do anything. The word 'wait' in the original Hebrew means, "to be bound like a rope or twisted or bonded together." So, to wait on the Lord means that you trust Him, that you humble yourself and rely on His strength, that you obey His Word and commands. It conveys all those meanings. Sometimes it’s very difficult to wait on the Lord for things to happen, for things to take place, but if we will do those things, if we will trust the Lord and if we will humble ourselves under His mighty hand and make sure we obey His will, then we will be blessed. Waiting on God is tough, but God’s timing is always best for us and for others.
