Todos cometemos erros num momento ou noutro na nossa caminhada Cristã. Pode ser um pecado em particular com que lutamos ou apenas uma reacção impulsiva a alguma coisa. Geralmente, após esta série de eventos, paramos e nos livramos das coisas nas nossas vidas que são um obstáculo e começamos a subir novamente a montanha. Começamos a ler novamente a nossa Bíblia e a orar com mais frequência. Ao passar os dias, semanas e até meses sem que haja qualquer escorregadela neste pecado, começamos a ter uma falsa sensação de que somos invencíveis ou nunca vamos ser novamente tentados.
É claro que não somos invencíveis, perguntem ao Pastor que trai a sua esposa se alguma vez pensou em fazê-lo. Precisamos ser mais como os discípulos que perguntaram a Jesus se iriam ser eles que O iriam trair. Que pergunta mais maluca!
Os discípulos tinham estado com Jesus durante três anos. Eles viveram com Ele, aprenderam com Ele e comeram com Ele. No entanto, eles imaginaram se seriam eles que O iriam trair. Aprendemos mais tarde que Pedro negou Jesus três vezes (Marcos 14:66-72), e este é o homem que viria a ser o fundador da igreja!
Vamos aprender com os discípulos e lembrar-nos que a qualquer momento podemos ser susceptíveis ao pecado. Devemos estar sempre em guarda (1 Coríntios 16:13), não importa quão bem estamos na nossa caminhada com Jesus. Para além disso, e talvez o mais importante, quando um irmão ou irmã em Cristo se arrepende do pecado, devemos lembrar recebê-los de volta graciosamente. Porque, afinal de contas, nós poderemos facilmente ser aquele apanhado em pecado.

We all mess up one time or another in our Christian walk. It might be a particular sin that we struggle with or just an impulse reaction to something. Usually, after these series of events, we buckle down and get rid of the things in our lives that are a hindrance and start climbing the mountain again. We begin to read our Bible again and pray more often. As days and weeks and even months go by without any serious slip ups into this sin, we begin to get a false sense that we are invincible or won’t ever be tempted again.
Of course we aren’t invincible, ask the Pastor who cheats on his wife if he ever thought he would do it. We need to be more like the disciples who asked Jesus if they were to be the ones who would betray him. What a crazy question!
The disciples had been with Jesus for three years. They lived with Him, learned from Him, and ate with Him. Yet, they wondered if they were going to be the one to betray Him. We learn later on that Peter denies Jesus three times (Mark 14:66-72), and this is the man who was to be the founder of the church!
Let’s learn from the disciples and remember that at anytime we can be susceptible to sin. We must always be on guard (1 Corinthians 16:13) no matter how well we are doing in our walk with Jesus. Additionally, and perhaps most importantly, when a brother or sister in Christ repents of sin, we must remember to receive them back graciously. Because, after all, we could easily be the one caught in sin.
