Estás A Viver Uma Vida corajosa? # Are You Living A Courageous Life?

How do you define courage? The dictionary offers two definitions: "The ability to do something that frightens oneself" and "strength in the face of pain and grief." Everyone admires someone who displays this type of courage in the face of overwhelming obstacles and fear. Think about it, movies typically center their hero or heroine’s storyline around this theme.
Jesus certainly displayed this type of courage while here on earth: boldly facing critics and ultimately the cross. Knowing Jesus would lose His life for the sake of you and me, the apostle Matthew depicts the final hours leading up to Jesus being arrested in Matthew 26:36-44.
"My soul is sorrowful, even to death", Jesus said. And yet, He continued along the path God had laid out for Him. Talk about courage in the face of fear. And all because of His love for you and me. Thankfully, Jesus’ story didn’t end on the cross. After paying the ultimate price for all OUR sins, Jesus rose again so that we might have a relationship with God. Jesus’ act of courage redeemed mankind.
More often than not, living courageously doesn’t require a life or death decision, but it might feel like it in the moment. We’ve all had a season in life where we’ve had a choice: move in courage or shrink back in fear. What the movies often don’t depict in their happily ever after ending is what comes next. Living courageously is rarely a ‘one and done’ moment, but a daily decision in how we approach each day.
In what areas of your life is God asking you to walk boldly and courageously for Him? Is it at work or at home? Maybe you’re facing a health or financial crisis and just getting out of bed each day takes tremendous courage. Ask Jesus for the strength and wisdom to know HOW to live courageously not only today, but every day. You never know who might be watching.

Liberdade No Perdão # Freedom In Forgiveness
Portanto, a resposta à pergunta inicial é: "Sim". Quem é que precisas de perdoar hoje?
~ Mateus 18:21-22

There are many instances in life where forgiveness is extraordinarily difficult. For a parent grieving the loss of their child in a senseless school shooting, a man whose wife left him for another, or perhaps a woman dealing with the aftermath of sexual abuse (the list could go on), how does anyone forgive a person who has caused so much pain and heartbreak? Can you or better yet, should you forgive in these situations?
In these cases, forgiveness can sometimes seem not only impossible, but irresponsible in the name of justice. So, should we really forgive all those who harm us? Unsurprisingly, Jesus had a lot to say on this very topic and chose to communicate this life lesson through yet another story. You can read the complete parable in Matthew 18: 21-35.
A man was in tremendous debt to the king, 10,000 talents. Now, a talent was about 72 pounds of a precious metal. If that metal was gold, one talent today would equal roughly $1.6 million. Now multiply that by 10,000. The amount of debt owed by this man was impossible to repay in a lifetime. The king knew this and ordered the man, his family, and all their possessions sold to pay the debt. The man fell to the ground and begged the king for mercy. In an incredible act of compassion, the king forgave this great debt.
The point of the story is that just like the king forgave an impossible debt, God forgives us of our impossible to pay sin debt. There’s nothing we can do, say, or offer to compensate for the penalty our sin demands, which is death. But God, in a tremendous act of compassion and mercy offers us complete forgiveness through Christ, who paid that sin debt for us by taking our place on the cross.
In the same way, we are to show a similar attitude of compassion and forgiveness towards those who hurt or wrong us. This isn’t done to earn God’s forgiveness, but out of gratitude for what He’s done for us. After all, when we truly realize the magnitude of God’s forgiveness towards us, the easier it is to forgive others for wounds both big and small. So, the answer to the question at the beginning is, "Yes". Who do you need to forgive today?

John 3:16. One of the most familiar, if not THE most familiar verse in the Bible. It’s the entire gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ, summed up in one sentence: God loves us. God provided a Savior in His Son, Jesus, but we must put our complete trust and faith in Him. By doing so, we can enjoy abundant life spent with our Creator God, both now in this life and in the future for all eternity.
But if we don’t place our full trust and faith in what Jesus has done for us on the cross, what then? We must understand that there still is an eternity to be spent. For those who don’t choose Christ, there will be an eternal separation from God.
The God of Heaven and Earth, the Creator of this Universe and all that is in it, gives each of us a choice. It’s a choice of eternal life with Him. No one else can choose that eternity for us. It’s a personal choice. God’s love is so great that He gave us His own Son, Jesus, to deliver us from the fate of our sin and make our eternity secure. But the choice is yours and mine alone.
Eternity is certainly a bigger concept than any of us can fully grasp. God in His love for us, offers His Holy Spirit to help us understand our need for Him and to envelop us with His peace as that relationship is secure. Reach out to Him. Trust Him. God is who He says He is and He will save you for eternity!

Ele submeteu a Sua vontade natural à do Pai.
~ Lucas 22:42
#
We live in a very selfish world. In fact, we’re all naturally selfish. Think about it, you never have to teach a baby how to want what they want, when they want it! Selfishness is a result of fallen man that goes all the way back to Adam and Eve wanting what they were not supposed to have.
When a person comes to the realization that he or she really is trapped in the hopelessness of sin and selfishness, the search for a savior begins. That savior, however, isn’t found in a list of good works or in more self-discipline. The only One in this world who is able to bridge the gap between sinful man and a Holy God is God’s only Son, Jesus. For Jesus, perfect and without sin because He is God in the flesh, took our sin upon Himself to pay the penalty for our sins once and for all.
Sin will still exist in the life of a new believer, but the new desire in our life is to be more and more like Jesus in our words and deeds. As we trust Him and learn to walk with Him in faith, our lives begin to change. We surrender our will for His will as we want to please Him more than ourselves.
There’s that element of "will" again. The scripture captures the heart of Jesus as He was praying that night before His crucifixion. He knew what was to come, and yet, He trusted Father God completely. He submitted His natural will to that of His Father’s.
You and I are faced with decisions between selfishness and goodness every day. It’s hard to give up what we want or desire from a worldly or even a pleasure perspective, but that still small voice of the Holy Spirit will always be prompting us to submit to the will of the Father versus our own.

Agradar A Deus Ou Confiar Em Deus? # To Please God Or Trust God?
Começa a confiar.

#
Question: Do you seek to please God or simply trust Him? I believe many of us would say that we desire to do both, but if you had to choose or focus on one or the other, which would it be?
In pleasing God, we seem to put ourselves in more of a "what must I do" frame of mind. It requires considerable effort to do those things that are "good and acceptable in the sight of the Lord." Our way then becomes paved with good intentions. We really do strive to please God, despite the obstacles and detours we constantly encounter.
That very word, strive, means "struggling in opposition" and that really sums it up. We struggle against the sin in our own lives, not to mention the sins in the lives of others. We are not perfect, and those imperfections and shortcomings will continue to follow us as long as we live. "Pleasing", in and of itself, seems to be an ongoing challenge.
But Scripture also says to "cease striving"... to be still and know that God is God. Instead of all the manufactured effort, perhaps we should rest more in accepting God’s grace. After all, it’s His free gift to us. Though our sin is still there, it’s covered by the Grace of Christ’s blood. When our faith and trust is in Jesus, He is standing between our sin and us before a Holy Father. Perhaps we should consider replacing our selfish, although well-intentioned, effort with a yielded and trusting humility. Quoting from the leadership book, Truefaced: "Effort born out of striving to please God never ceases to tire us. Effort born out of resting in His pleasure never ceases to renew us."
For you see, pleasing God is a by-product of trusting God. When we trust God wholly, He is nothing but pleased. So, stop striving. Start trusting.

You're always enough, always enough
Your love is peace to the broken
Faith for the widow
Hope for the orphan
Strength for the weak
Your love is the anthem of nations
Rings out through the ages
And You're always enough for me
I'll rejoice for my Saviour reigns
I'll rejoice for He lives in me
God on high, He has set me free
And worthy is the Lord [x2]
Your love is peace to the broken
Faith for the widow
Hope for the orphan
Strength for the weak
Your love is the anthem of nations
Rings out through the ages
And You're always enough for me [x2]
I'll rejoice for my Saviour reigns
I'll rejoice for He lives in me
God on high, he has set me free
And worthy is the Lord
In the dry and weary land
Lord, You are the rain

Como Nos Esquecemos Rapidamente # How Quickly We Forget

Picture this: a group of friends had just left a large gathering of people, 5000 to be exact, setting sail on the Sea of Galilee when they realized they had no bread. This was no small matter, as the journey could be lengthy and potentially difficult. But the story doesn’t stop there.
At the large gathering they had just left, Jesus had been teaching and preaching to the crowd when those 5000 people became hungry. So, Jesus took 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish that were available and multiplied it such that everyone on the hillside was fed. There were even 12 baskets full of left overs! It was an incredible miracle, above duplication of the feeding of the 5000 men and their families.
And now this group of men in their haste to leave, had forgotten to bring any provision for the journey. The irony of this scene is that Jesus, who had just miraculously fed a crowd of 5000 only minutes before, is sitting in that very boat listening to these concerns. He had to be shaking His head in disbelief. In fact, Jesus responds to these close friends, His disciples, "Do you not yet see or understand? Do you have a hardened heart?"
You and I can be so similar to those disciples in that boat. How often have we experienced some miraculous circumstance (whether we credit Jesus or not), only to turn right around and whine about some other area of our lives. We so quickly forget the blessings we’ve experienced and allow doubt and fear to dominate our current situation, rather than resting in the fact that Jesus is right there in the boat of life with us. Jesus has already proven Himself trustworthy, to be found when we truly seek Him, and to never leave us or forsake us. Jesus is the Bread of Life... completely satisfying, and sufficient. If we could only rest and trust in that fact!
If you’re struggling to trust Jesus, I want to encourage you that Jesus is who He says He is! But He doesn’t force us to trust Him. He allows that decision to be a deliberate act of our own free will.
Will you take your eyes off the problems in your life and look to Jesus? See Him. Get to know Him. Soften your heart to His presence, because He’s right there with you in the boat.

Steffany Gretzinger - No One Ever Cared for Me Like Jesus ... ♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫
If my heart could tell a story
If my life would sing a song
If I have a testimony
If I have anything at all
No one ever cared for me like Jesus
His faithful hand has held me all this way
And when I'm old and gray and all my days
Are numbered on the Earth
Let it be known, in You alone
My joy was found
Oh my joy, my joy
Let my children tell their children
Let this be their memory
That all my treasure was in heaven
And You were everything to me
No one ever cared for me like Jesus
His faithful hand has held me all this way
And when I'm old and gray and all my days
Are numbered on the Earth
Let it be known, in You alone
My joy was found
I found my joy
I'm still in love
You're still enough for me
Still all I want
You're still my everything [x2]
No one ever cared for me like Jesus
His faithful hand has held me all this way
And when I'm old and gray and all my days
Are numbered on the Earth
Let it be known, in You alone

Prestando Atenção Aos Sinais # Paying Attention To Signs

The Bible gives many examples of signs that will warn us of the coming end of the age. Six such signs are given by Jesus, two characteristics are given by Paul, and eleven other occurrences are given by the prophets, signs that should occur prior to or soon after the end of the age. While we are also told we will not know the exact time of the end, God obviously wanted us to be aware when the time was getting closer. As the Christian church is increasingly drawn into the interfaith movement, and as more and more churches go into isolation, preparing to sleep through the growing attacks on their faith, perhaps God knew it would take a few signs to wake us up and remind us that we have work to do.
So, let’s imagine a time in history when, "People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unloving, slanderous, without self-control, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; holding to a form of godliness, but denying its power." (What a description of many inside and outside of today’s churches)
Does this sound like today’s world or not? So, when were these words penned? Around 2,000 years ago in the Word of God. This prediction was prefaced with these haunting words: "But mark this: ‘These will be terrible times in the last days.'"
Sounds like we’re there.
So, how do we respond? God’s Word says, "the Scriptures are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Jesus Christ." So, study God’s Word. Believe what it says about how to be saved from ungodly character. Live what it says, for we all are running out of time.
