Quanto É O Suficiente? # How Much is Enough?

Independentemente do estado da nossa economia, de alguma forma ainda encontramos a necessidade de ter mais "coisas". Na nossa pressa em adquirir riqueza e posses, não deveríamos estar a perguntar: "Quanto é o suficiente?" De forma simples, a Palavra de Deus diz-nos: Quando vês que Deus está a suprir as necessidades básicas da tua vida, fica contente. Sê grato. O apóstolo Paulo diz: Não digo isto como por necessidade, porque já aprendi a contentar-me com o que tenho. Sei estar abatido, e sei também ter abundância; em toda a maneira, e em todas as coisas estou instruído, tanto a ter fartura, como a ter fome; tanto a ter abundância, como a padecer necessidade. (Filipenses 4:11,12)

Por outras palavras, o apóstolo Paulo entendeu. Ele poderia contentar-se com pouco. Ele podia estar contente com muito! Vamos aprender a seguir o exemplo dele. Porque o Cristianismo é, acima de tudo, um relacionamento, quando estamos num relacionamento correto com Deus por meio de Cristo, um dos muitos subprodutos é o contentamento.

Então, enquanto as necessidades básicas da vida estiverem a ser satisfeitas, sê grato. Todas as coisas a mais e acima são apenas bênçãos extras!

Regardless of the state of our economy, somehow we still find the need to have more "things". In our rush to acquire wealth and possessions, shouldn’t we be asking ourselves, "Just how much is enough?" Simply put, God’s Word tells us: When you see that God is meeting the basic necessities of your life, be content. Be thankful. The apostle Paul says, Not that I speak from want; for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. (Philippians 4:11, 12)

In other words, the apostle Paul understood. He could be content with little. He could be content with much! Let’s learn to follow his example. Because Christianity is most of all a relationship, when we are in a right relationship with God through Christ, one of the many by-products is contentment.

So, as long as the basic necessities of life are being met, be thankful. All things over and above are just extra blessings!
