Amar Deus Significa Amar os Outros # Loving God Means Loving Others

Amar Deus significa amar os outros. As duas ideias são inseparáveis. Em Lucas 10, um advogado perguntou a Jesus como obter a vida eterna. No típico estilo de Jesus, Ele respondeu com uma pergunta: "O que é que está escrito na Lei?" Referenciando Deuteronómio 6:5 e Levítico 19:18, o homem respondeu: "Amar a Deus e amar os outros."

Jesus sabia que este homem não tinha qualquer esperança em ter a vida eterna através da obediência à lei porque o padrão de Deus é a perfeição. Apenas uma pessoa já viveu uma vida perfeita e este foi Jesus. O advogado continuou: "Está bem, mas quem é exactamente o meu vizinho?" Esta foi uma questão importante porque, para o Judeu do primeiro século, o seu "vizinho" referia-se a outros Judeus. Todos os outros, Romanos, Samaritanos e Árabes, podiam ser tratados de maneira diferente.

Foi quando Jesus deu mais um passo ao aplicar este versículo a todos. Não foi sobre identificar as pessoas que DEVEMOS amar versus aqueles que podemos ignorar. Foi sobre amar todas as pessoas. Ponto final. Ele ensina-nos a COMEÇAR a amar os nossos irmãos na igreja, enquanto devemos amar sempre aqueles que estão fora da igreja também.

Agora, encaremos a questão. Há algumas pessoas, mesmo na Igreja, que são difíceis de amar. Mas o tipo de amor de que Jesus está a falar aqui não é uma emoção; é uma decisão da vontade de amar quer gostemos dessa pessoa ou não. Pede a Deus para ajudar-te a amar as pessoas à tua volta, especialmente aquelas difíceis de amar. Pede a Ele para ajudar-te a amá-las da mesma maneira que Deus ama os difíceis como tu e eu.

Loving God means loving others. The two ideas are inseparable. In Luke chapter 10, a lawyer asked Jesus the way to earn eternal life. In typical Jesus fashion, He responded with a question: "What is written in the Law?" Referencing Deuteronomy 6:5 and Leviticus 19:18, the man replied: "Love God and love others."

Jesus knew this man had no hope of earning eternal life by obeying the law because God’s standard is perfection. Only one person ever lived a perfect life and that is Jesus. The lawyer continued: "Okay, but who exactly is my neighbor?" This was an important question because for the first century Jew, their "neighbor" referred to fellow Jews. Everyone else, Roman, Samaritan, and Arab, could be treated differently.

That’s when Jesus went one step further by applying this verse to everyone. It wasn’t about identifying the people we SHOULD love versus those whom we can ignore. It was about loving all people. Period. He teaches us to START with loving our fellow believers within the church, while always loving those outside the church as well.

Now, let’s face it. There are some people, even in the Church, that are hard to love. But the kind of love Jesus is talking about here isn’t an emotion; it’s a decision of the will to love whether you like that person or not. Ask God to help you love those around you, especially those difficult to love. Ask Him to help you love them in the same way that God loves the difficult ones like you and me.
