O apóstolo Paulo foi um incrível comunicador e missionário. Quando chegou a hora de partilhar o Evangelho de Jesus Cristo, ele viu muitos chegarem à fé. Para os Cristãos de hoje, podemos aprender muito com o exemplo de Paulo de como comunicar o Evangelho a pessoas que vêm de origens, experiências e até mesmo religiões muito diferentes.
Paulo era Judeu. Não apenas um "Judeu cultural", que celebrava as festas e aderia às tradições populares, mas um zeloso crente do Judaísmo antes do seu encontro radical com Cristo. Ao falar com os colegas Judeus, podes ter a certeza de que Paulo os entendia muito bem. Portanto, ao partilhar Cristo com amigos Judeus, Paulo seria sensível às suas preocupações e os encontraria onde estavam. Ao fazer isto, Paulo demonstrou como nós também podemos partilhar Cristo com pessoas religiosas: como um Muçulmano, um Budista, Hindu ou Mórmon. E como é que Paulo se ligou exactamente com pessoas cujas crenças eram tão diferentes das dele? Começou com respeito e um cuidado genuíno pelo outro.
Imagina que estás a discutir a fé com um amigo Muçulmano. Sabias que o Alcorão escreve de facto que Jesus foi um grande profeta nascido de uma virgem? Agora, obviamente, há uma diferença radical: no Islão, Jesus foi apenas um homem e um grande profeta, não Deus. No entanto, perguntando sobre o que o Corão diz sobre Jesus e ao respeitarmos o ponto de vista de um Muçulmano, podes ter uma conversa espiritual mais profunda. Podes até começar a estudar o que a Bíblia diz sobre Jesus com o teu amigo Muçulmano.
E aqui está a coisa mais linda: a verdade não é ameaçada por falsos ensinamentos. Não te deixes intimidar em discutir a fé com pessoas de outras religiões. Confia na Palavra de Deus, confia no Evangelho e confia em Deus para revelar a verdade. Porque respeito, genuíno cuidado e aceitação são os pontos de partida para partilhar o Evangelho. Quando se trata do Evangelho de Jesus Cristo, ninguém deveria ficar fora da mesa.

The apostle Paul was an incredible communicator and missionary. When it came to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, he saw many come to faith. For Christians today, we can learn a lot from Paul’s example of how to communicate the Gospel to people coming from very different backgrounds, experiences, and even religions.
Paul was a Jew. Not just a "cultural Jew", celebrating the holidays and adhering to popular traditions, but a zealous believer in Judaism before his radical encounter with Christ. When speaking with fellow Jews, you can be sure that Paul understood them pretty well. So when sharing Christ with Jewish friends, Paul was going to be sensitive to their concerns and meet them where they were. In doing so, Paul demonstrated how we too can share Christ with religious people: like a Muslim, a Buddhist, Hindu or Mormon. And how exactly did Paul connect with people whose beliefs were so different from his? It began with respect and a genuine care for the other.
Imagine you’re discussing faith with a Muslim friend. Did you know that the Koran actually writes that Jesus was a great prophet born of a virgin? Now obviously there is a radical difference: in Islam, Jesus was only a man and a great prophet, not God. However, by asking what the Koran says about Jesus and by respecting a Muslim’s viewpoint, you might find yourself having a deeper spiritual conversation. You might even begin studying what the Bible says about Jesus with your Muslim friend.
And here’s the beautiful thing: truth is not threatened by false teaching. Don’t be intimidated to discuss faith with people from other religions. Trust the Word of God, trust the Gospel and trust God to reveal the truth. Because respect, genuine care and acceptance are the starting points to sharing the Gospel. When it comes to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, no one should be off the table.
