O meu neto de dois anos parece ter levado alguns dos seus "terríveis dois" hábitos para mais um ano. Quando as coisas não estão a ir à sua maneira, ele faz birra. Qualquer adulto que tente falar com ele é-lhe rapidamente dito: "Não fales comigo!" (Acreditem em mim, os seus pais estão a trabalhar nisto!)
Tal coisa aconteceu quando ele recentemente estava comigo, e nenhuma quantidade de explicação o fazia feliz. Finalmente, ele olhou para mim e disse: "Não fales comigo!" Respondi-lhe enquanto me afastava dele: "Está bem, mas se eu não posso falar contigo, então tu também não podes falar comigo." Ele rapidamente seguiu-me para a próxima sala e começou a tentar dizer-me alguma coisa. Levantei a minha mão e disse: "Eu não posso ouvir-te. Não fales para mim." Ele tentou de novo... e novamente respondi: "Não posso ouvir-te." Batalhámos desta forma, para frente a para trás, durante meia dúzia de vezes. Finalmente, ele chegou bem perto da minha cara e disse: "Bobbee, eu não quero que fales para mim, mas QUERO que oiças!"
E isso, meus amigos, descreve a relação que a maioria das pessoas tem com Deus. Não falamos COM Ele. Falamos A Ele... e realmente não queremos que Ele fale connosco!
A Bíblia está cheia de exemplos de pessoas que se recusaram a ouvir Deus. Vejam Jonas, por exemplo. Não é preciso ser um doutor da Bíblia para conhecer esta história. Ele recusou-se a ouvir e acabou na barriga de um grande peixe por três dias. Sansão ouviu a palavra de Deus, mas não tomou atenção. Ele permitiu que o seu eu carnal abafasse a voz de Deus... e pagou com a sua vida. O jovem rico fez a pergunta mais importante da vida. Quando ouviu a resposta, ele virou as costas e foi-se embora... dizendo a Jesus: NÃO FALES COMIGO. A lista continua e continua e continua e inclui pessoas como você e eu.
"As minhas ovelhas ouvem a Minha voz; Eu as conheço, e elas Me seguem. Eu lhes dou a vida eterna, e elas jamais perecerão; ninguém as poderá arrancar da Minha mão." (João 10:27-28 NVI)

My three-year-old grandson seems to have carried some of his "terrible two’s" habits into another year. When things aren’t going his way, he throws a little fit. Any adult trying to reason with him is quickly told, "Don’t talk to me!" (Believe me, his parents are working on this!)
Such a thing happened when he was with me recently, and no amount of explaining would make him happy. Finally, he looked at me and said, "Don’t talk to me!" I replied while walking away, "Okay, but if I can’t talk to you, then you can’t talk to me either." He quickly followed me into the next room and began to try to tell me something. I held up my hand and said, "I can’t hear you. Don’t talk to me." He tried again… and again I replied, "I can’t hear you." We batted this way, back and forth, for half a dozen times. Finally, he got right in my face and said, "Bobbee, I don’t want you to talk to me but I DO want you to listen!"
And that, my friends, describes the relationship most people have with God. We don’t talk WITH Him. We talk TO Him… and we really don’t want Him talking to us!
The Bible is full of examples of people who refused to listen to God. Take Jonah, for instance. It doesn’t take a Bible scholar to know this story. He refused to listen and wound up in the belly of a large fish for three days. Samson heard God’s word, but didn’t listen. He allowed his carnal self to drown out God’s voice… and he paid with his life. The rich young ruler asked the most important question in life. When he heard the answer, he turned his back and walked away… thus saying to Jesus: DON’T TALK TO ME. The list goes on and on and on and includes people like you and me.
"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of My hand." (John 10:27-28 ESV)
